Sunday (boozy) brunch was well needed this week. I joined some girlfriends to try the Lily and Bloom brunch ‘Feast’ for 320 HKD + free flow of Bellini’s, bloody Mary’s and Summer Cups (Pimm’s) for 195 HKD.
For those of you who do not eat meat, I would recommend ordering a la carte as the Feast is quite meaty. My friend ordered the oysters and Lily’s take on Eggs Benedict with salmon.
The buffet table includes seafood, cold cuts, pastas, salad, make your own omelette (selection of American, Japanese, Quail and duck eggs). Unless you are training for an eating competition, the buffet table can be skipped because the dishes for the Feast are large and numerous!
We started with the avocado on toast (bacon was dry so best to avoid it!)
Next we had the eggs with hash browns and bacon. I am not a very fussy eater, but this one you could give a miss. Not much flavour and for that amount of grease, you would expect something that’s a bit tastier.
The stack of pancakes redeemed the first two dishes- packed with blueberries and not too sweet. The sausages on the side were also hitting the spot. Ignore the bacon!
Another course came and my dress was getting tighter- this time with a massive serving of French toast with more blueberries. Antioxidant overload! I would say they were good but the syrup hadn’t soaked all the way through the bread which made the middle a bit dry.
The smoked salmon pasta was average, not bad but I was getting picky now with whatever space was left in my tummy!
Last of our ‘mains’ was fried chicken wings with biscuits- proper southern style. The wings were good but by this time, I was completely stuffed.
And finally the dessert- salted caramel brownies and cookies.
My suggestion to those of you who have a ‘normal’ appetite is to pick on each dish, let all of them arrive and then decide which you like. You will not finish them all and unfortunately they will not allow you to pack anything!
Verdict: Very attentive service, LOTS of food and they are not slow to serve the drinks, however disappointed with the sheer waste of food. Good deal for kids (although I wouldn’t say it’s got a particularly family friendly atmosphere) as under 4 years old dine for free!
